A
Philosophy of Practice
Our orthodontic philosophy
is one of early recognition and prevention of malocclusions in children.
Developing orthodontic problems may be observed at an early age and interceptive
orthodontic treatment can minimize the total time for wearing braces and
thus save cost in the long run.
Early
treatment (prior to the eruption of all permanent teeth) allows the orthodontist
to work with the growing face, teeth and jaws and gives the best opportunity
for keeping all the teeth. Our goal is to maintain permanent teeth whenever
possible. Certainly, there are cases where tooth removal is prudent, but
we find that giving Mother Nature a little help early on often allows
for the most beautiful "natural" alignment of the teeth and
jaws.
Areas of Special
Interest
Adult Orthodontics
Invisible braces for
adults and teens is one area of orthodontics that excites us. The ceramic
brackets that we use are clear and do not discolor as did the plastics
of years past. Removeable braces are another option for active adults
who always wanted their teeth straightened. It's never too late!
TMJ (Temporomandibular
Joint Dysfunction)
Jaw joint problems
are of special interest in our office. We routinely work with other dentists
and physicians in a multi-disciplined approach to the once-baffling symptoms
of pain, popping and clicking joints.
