What's the difference between traditional braces and Invisalign?

Do braces hurt?
You may experience some mild discomfort or soreness for a few days after your braces are placed or adjusted, but it’s typically manageable with over-the-counter pain relievers. Most patients adjust quickly and find that any discomfort fades within a few days.
Can I still play sports with braces?
Absolutely! We recommend wearing a protective mouthguard during contact sports to protect your teeth and braces. We can provide a special orthodontic mouthguard designed to fit comfortably over your braces.

Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! We offer flexible, interest-free payment plans with no down payment required. We also work with third-party financing options like CareCredit. Our goal is to make orthodontic treatment affordable for every family.
During Treatment
How often will I need appointments?
Most patients visit us every 6-10 weeks for adjustment appointments. These visits typically take 15-30 minutes. We’ll schedule your appointments in advance and work around your busy schedule.
What foods should I avoid with braces?
Avoid hard, sticky, or chewy foods that can damage your braces—including popcorn, hard candy, gum, ice, and sticky caramels. Cutting hard foods like apples and carrots into smaller pieces makes them easier to eat. We’ll provide a complete list of foods to avoid.
What should I do if a bracket comes loose?
Don’t panic! Call our office to schedule a repair appointment. In the meantime, if a wire is poking you, you can use orthodontic wax to cover it. Most minor issues can be easily fixed at your next appointment.
How do I clean my teeth with braces?
Brush after every meal and floss daily using a floss threader or orthodontic floss. We recommend using a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. An electric toothbrush or water flosser can also be helpful. We’ll show you proper cleaning techniques at your appointments.
After Treatment
Will I need to wear a retainer after my braces come off?
Yes, retainers are essential for maintaining your beautiful new smile. After your braces are removed, you’ll wear your retainer full-time for several months, then transition to wearing it only at night. Consistent retainer wear prevents your teeth from shifting back.
How long do I need to wear my retainer?
We recommend wearing your retainer at night indefinitely to maintain your results. Teeth have a natural tendency to shift throughout life, and consistent retainer wear is the best way to protect your investment in your smile.
What happens if I lose or break my retainer?
Contact us immediately to order a replacement. It’s important not to go long periods without wearing your retainer, as teeth can shift quickly. We keep your records on file, making it easy to create a new retainer.
